The Great Tugboat Race

The Opeongo, built by Russel Brothers of Owen Sound, Ontario for the Upper Ottawa Improvement Company to move log booms on the Ottawa River, worked until 1991 when rafting operations ceased. She sat on the beach near Fort William until February 1997 when Gardiner Marine purchased her. At that time, Avery Construction trucked her home in two pieces. She has since been put back together, the galley and wheelhouse renovated and a generator added. The Opeongo is presently working out of Richard's Landing, Ontario.
